Dr. Carlos Olave

Orthopedist and Traumatologist

About me

I am a medical professional with specialization in orthopedics and sub-specialty in lower extremity and spine with extensive experience in pain management in acute, sub-acute and chronic pathologies.

I have extensive experience in ARL trauma management and medical certification processes with special military regimes in the country.

I attend my private practice where I have the time to dedicate to my patients in a calm and professional manner and with the time they require.

As one of the most extensive and studied processes in the world, I perform infiltration processes for the management of different pathologies that include axonal blockages, hyaluronic acid and stem cells.

Finally, and as part of the services that I offer as a professional, I care for bedridden patients or patients with difficult travel conditions at home in the north of Bogotá or virtually if required.

Tennis Elbow (Epicondylitis)

Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis is a painful condition of the elbow caused by overuse. It is not surprising that playing tennis or another racket sport can cause this condition. However, several other sports and activities besides sports can be risky.

Acute, sub-acute or chronic spinal pain

Low back pain has usually been classified according to timing as acute, subacute and chronic, with the former being pain that subsides before 4 weeks, subacute pain between 4 and 12 weeks, and chronic pain that lasts longer than 12 weeks.

Sciatic impingement

When a patient has a symptomatic herniated disc, the disc itself is not painful, but rather the displacement of the disc is pinching a nerve. This produces pain called radicular pain (nerve root pain) which can travel to other parts of the body, for example, down from the lower back to the leg or from the neck to the arm.

knee sprain

A knee sprain is an injury where a total or partial tear of some of the knee ligaments occurs. The most important ligaments of the knee are: two external, one medial, one lateral and the internal ones, which are: the anterior cruciate and the posterior cruciate.

Calceous spur

The heel spur is a triangular or lance-shaped growth of the heel bone. It occurs when the plantar fascia (elastic tissue that connects the heel to the area under the toes) is subjected to excessive traction and overload, generating micro-tears in its insertion.

Knee osteoarthritis

Knee osteoarthritis is a degenerative, "wear and tear" disease that occurs most often in older people, but can also occur in younger people due to previous injuries to the knee. Cartilage gradually wears away, decreasing the protection of the bones.

et-infiltrations.png
Anterior and posterior cruciate ligament injury ACL or PCL

It is a tear or excessive stretching of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) or posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) found in the knee. The rupture can be partial or complete. They can be injured separately or at the same time.

Management of chronic residual pain secondary to trauma

An Infiltration consists of an injection that consists of a puncture in a joint or in the periarticular soft tissue that is affected by Inflammation.

plantar fasciitis

The plantar fascia is the thick tissue on the bottom of the foot. This tissue connects the calcaneus to the toes and creates the arch of the foot. When this tissue becomes inflamed or swollen, it is called plantar fasciitis.

Chondromalacia patella

Chondromalacia patella (knee pain) is softening or breaking of the tissue (cartilage) at the bottom of the kneecap. The pain comes when the knee and thigh bone (femur) rub together.
